Inside our room we have different designated areas that children can move freely between, some of these include our carpet area, small world, role play, creative area and themed areas. We make sure a variety of activities are available each day including table top activities, floor level activities as well as free play and adult led so your child has the opportunity to explore as their own pace in wonderful captivating things that interest them. We plan new exciting activities each day based on our Annual Plan and the children’s current interests. We promote self independence by encouraging the children to access their own belongings and tidy away at various points throughout the day and key workers will work with your child in small groups and individually throughout the day to progress their learning and development in a fun and engaging way.
Caterpillar Room and Butterfly Room –
We have recently had a partitioning door fitted so we can split the room for various parts of the day. The Caterpillar Room is for children aged 2 and The Butterfly Room is for children aged 3+ we decided to do this to ensure that small group activities can be more age appropriate for the children. The Caterpillar Room has more messy play and sensory activities, shorter stories, activities aimed at the younger children. The Butterfly Room has more ‘School Ready’ activities for example the children are encouraged to sit for longer carpet times and stories and activities aimed at the older children. This means that the children get more learning opportunities tailored to their age and development daily. We still spend times in the day together which is important for the younger children to learn from their role models the older children.
